How Ignite Ministries came into being

It was July 4th 2004 when the Lord began to speak to Mike from Genesis’s 26 – the story of Isaac re-opening the wells of his father, Abraham.

Mike and his wife Janice were visiting Westminster Chapel where Greg Haslam was speaking on this Scripture. While Greg was preaching the Lord started to speak to Mike, about re-opening the wells for the miraculous within the UK and around the world.
A few weeks later, in the early hours of the morning, the Lord gave Mike a vision; he saw a picture of Great Britain with many geysers bursting forth. The torrents of water were so strong that nothing could stand in their way…. And the Lord spoke these words…

‘As you continue spending time in my presence, seeking my face and becoming the man behind the Man I will enable you to begin to re-open three wells of the miraculous within your nation. What has been deposited within you over the past few days can be developed into a mighty torrent of water which will be strong enough to remove the rubble that is blocking the wells. That torrent will not only be able to re-open the wells, but will also fill the wells with the fresh water of my Spirit. Many will be able to drink from this and receive their healing. This will not happen overnight but as you remain faithful I will accomplish all that is within your heart at this time and also much, much more.’

It was from these two encounters that Ignite Ministries would be finally birthed.
It wasn’t until May 2008 almost 4 years later that Mike felt it was time to leave IMS and start Ignite Ministries. (If you want to know more about the History of Mike and IMS please see ‘About Mike.’

This is how the final confirmation came about:
In May and June of 2008 the Lord used two different people to give Mike the same Scripture from 2 Kings 4 - ‘The widow and the jar of oil.’
What we, at Ignite Ministries, believe the Lord is saying through this passage is that it is time to get a new vessel a new jar (a new ministry) so that the Lord can fill it with the oil... the anointing, and as the anointing overflows... it will then enable the ministry to fulfil all that the Lord has planned.

We at Ignite Ministries are also excited that these two passages, Gen 26 & 2 Kings 4 also speak to us about the many different places around the UK and around the world, that the Lord will open. We believe these places will become wells of refreshing, places where people can go and find healing, restoration & refreshing of their spirit, souls and bodies.

First and foremost we want to help other churches and ministries find and re-open the wells that were once flowing in their churches, communities and regions. Then, when the time is right, to establish our own well, which we believe will be a training and releasing centre - a well for the miraculous. It will be a place of refreshing, where people can come and receive their healing and find a place to rest and find refreshment for the soul.

We believe that as we sow and work with other ministries we shall reap a harvest within our own ministry, so when the time is right, all that which has been sown into other wells around the nations will reap a harvest within our own centre.
